Well, we made it to August! The 8th month of the year. The 8th month of 2017. I know I am not the only one who is in complete shock over that. I say this every year, but this year is really after flying in. We have 2 seasons left and before you know it, it will be January 1st 2018 and we’ll wonder where the months went all over again.
As it is the first Monday of the month, I thought it would be apt to discuss July and my hopes for August. Here goes..
Last month I set myself two challenges: to follow an ab exercise regime for 30 days and to throw out/ give away/ gift something different for each of the 31 days of the month. As you may have guessed, I succeeded at one and failed rather miserably at the other.
30 Day Ab Challenge
This is most definitely the challenge that I gave up on. I got all the way to day 12 but then I gave up day on day until I reached the end of the month with little to nothing to show of it. Although I won’t be setting myself another 30 day exercise challenge anytime soon, I did learn something about myself. When I applied myself and kept to a schedule, I was able to keep it up. Probably a lesson to be learned in there somewhere…
31 Days of Clutter
This is a challenge I am proud to say I succeeded in, and then some. Not only did I remove 31 pieces of clutter from my life, I actually overachieved and cleansed my life of 60 individual things across the month. Although looking around my room, it is evident I still own a lot of things, I am delighted with the result. This has also been a valuable lesson when it comes to material things. Going forward, I think this is something I will strive to do twice a year, if not more frequently.
I have decided not to do any challenges for the month of August, but just focus on me as a person and what I am looking for in life. Granted, I will be keeping up some form of exercise along with keeping my shopping habits to a minimum, but I don’t want to label them with challenge names, not this month. This month, I am going to try and tick off a few of the smaller things on my bucket list and enjoy the last month of summer. What are you going to do for the month of August?
